Summer is almost here and it's time to trade in hot Earl Grey for iced tea. Lately, I've been a fan of Starbucks'
Tazo Passion Iced Tea. But at $2.50 for a small cup (with lots of ice), I wanted to try making a more economical option. Boxes of Tazo Passion Tea sell for about $5, with 24 tea bags — I'm not great at math but its several times more expensive to buy this tea at Starbucks than making it yourself. Here is the procedure I followed and it tastes exactly the same.
Boil about 6 cups of water in the tea kettle and pour it over 4 bags of tea (divided in two Mason jars). For maximum flavor, let steep for 30 minutes. After removing the tea bags, add 1/4 cup of
simple syrup to each jar, plus about 1 cup of ice. Let it sit until cooled, then refrigerate.
